My parents sent me to college in New England partly so that I could get an excellent education and partly because they secretly hoped I would meet a young man from a fine older family. I grew up in Alabama and love it there, but my folks are originally from Massachusetts. My mother dreamed of my huge church wedding in one of the old cathedrals near her home town. I did meet my future husband in college, but his southern roots go back for generations. We had a glorious Alabama Beach Wedding and even my mother admitted that no church ceremony could have been more beautiful.
