There are many different formulas for motor oil.  Each one has a defining property that will make it ideal for a given application.  One of the more exclusive types is amsoil 2-cycle oil, which is used for racing.  The oil is formulated for the two cycle motors, that are typically modified and therefore run hotter than normal engines.  The oil is designed to protect against the high strain of racing, both on a off of the track.  The oil can be purchased in a variety of quantities, from one quart bottles all the way up to fifty five gallon drums.
