When my daughter started to college I thought it would be a good time for her to learn about the value of having good credit.   I agreed to pay her allowance in the form of a credit card payment each month.  As long as she kept her credit card for students below a certain charge each month she would be able to charge more the next month.  This was a plan that worked for both of us.   I could monitor how much she was spending and for what and she learned the value of keeping her expenses down and within her budget.
