Mike Einziger, guitarist of the rock band Incubus, suffered from carpal tunnel syndrome. This made a lot of guitarists around the world aware of the disorder. However, Mike stresses that this disorder cannot only be acquired from playing the guitar or any musical instrument alone. He is also an avid computer gamer and the use of traditional keyboards contributed to him suffering from carpal tunnel. He highly recommends video players – whether they are professional or not – to make use of the genius innovations in ergonomics today. I, myself, am now using an ergonomic computer keyboard. Unlike Mike, I can’t afford an operation and miss a few days or weeks of work.
