Though many of the people are of the opinion that heartburns are caused by heart, the truth is that your stomach acid causes it. When there is irritation in your upper abdomen, which spreads on to your throat and mouth, you can be sure you are suffering from heartburns. Occurring mostly in adults and pregnant women due to acid regurgitation, it is intensified by lying down and bending. If left untreated this may develop into nausea, burping, a longer indigestion trouble and ends up in asthma, wheezing and chronic coughing.
