When I was in second and third grade, I took two years of piano lessons. I was really good at it! Unfortunately, when my teacher moved out of state, my mother gave me the choice of continuing with a new teacher or quitting. And I chose to quit, a decision I still regret and often blame my mother for (tongue-in-cheek, of course). Another unfortunate result is that after I quit taking lessons, my parents quit having the requisite annual San Francisco piano tuning. So when I did try to play from time to time, it sounded terrible and did nothing to inspire further musical aspirations!
