Some say Tallinn is a progressive thinking town. Don’t be fooled by all the old buildings and the old-ish atmosphere, there is much about Tallinn that suggests it is solidly placed in the twenty first century. There is a lively all-night nightlife situation here as well as great restaurants offering a huge range of international cuisines. The public transport system is extremely efficient so you don’t need to worry about clambering into dodgy old buses that are hundreds of years old! Many of the attractions are closely situated to one another but if you do not hire a car, the buses will provide transport that is more than adequate.
A world apart from the atmosphere that is enjoyed in modern day Tallinn, activities in Town Hall Square were of a more macabre nature during its earlier years. A laid back cappuccino on the terrace today replaces the morose spectacle of a public execution. One thing remaining the same about Town Hall Square is that it continues its function as town meeting place. It always has and always will be enjoyed as a location to catch up with old friends as well as new ones.
